DJ Remnis show delivers the first hour of pure vinyl classics we love along with guest mixes from trance, hard trance and techno DJ’s in the second hour. Mixing up the old with the new, we go Beyond Reminiscing every 4th Friday from 7pm on Safehouse Radio.
Remnis started DJing in 2009, learning himself to play on a controller and laptop. As he discovered more and more old music, he realised that he had to get records to be able to play his favourite music. In 2011, he started collecting vinyl and he spent hours upon hours teaching himself to mix with vinyl.
In mid-2011, Remnis was invited to get a weekly residency at the FearFM hard stream, specialised in early hardstyle and hard trance. After about one and a half year, the radio station quit. In the years after FearFM, he had lots of time to improve his mixing. It would be until 2015 until he would have a regular radio show again.
2015 saw the founding of the BIT – Back in Time group, a group of DJs passionate about the roots of hardstyle. Focusing on the era of 2000 – 2010, this group has a weekly radio show at rhr.fm. Every week, one of the 12 DJs makes a mix. Every few months, the group presents a live show, gathering in a studio in the south of the Netherlands. Furthermore, the group does BIT showcases at gigs every now and then. Remnis has played at a few of these showcases around the Netherlands. Other than these showcases, he played at some local gigs in and around Utrecht, the Netherlands.
In September 2016, Remnis started his very own monthly radio show on Safehouse Radio. ‘Beyond Reminiscing’ gave him the opportunity to really do what he wanted, without musical boundaries. The show includes hard trance, techno, acid, trance and more.
Around 2011, Remnis started looking into producing his own music. In 2016, he joined Nostic in the studio and they started a collab track, The Project. Having almost finished it, it will only be a matter of time before it is released.
Nowadays, his main focus is on hard trance, be it old or new. His most beloved style is the German hard trance from labels like Chaos Records, Overdose, Pulse and Tracid Traxxx, from around 2001. Other genres Remnis loves and often plays are techno, trance, acid, early rave, Chicago house and early hardstyle.
