Embark on a sonic journey every 2nd Tuesday at 7 pm as Ramon Tapia, the product of a unique blend of Dutch and Chilean influences, graces Safehouse Radio with his eclectic sound. Born and raised in Holland, Ramon’s musical heritage is as diverse as his upbringing. His father, a revolutionary Chilean musician who escaped Pinochet’s regime, and a Dutch mother set the stage for a musical education that spanned from Michael Jackson to the pioneers of Detroit techno.
Ramon’s journey into the techno realm began in Belgium, where he studied as a jeweler and diamond cutter. However, it was a part-time job in a record shop that ignited his passion for production. In the late 2000s, Ramon Tapia emerged as a prominent figure in the techno scene, releasing on labels like Herzblut, Craft, and Yellow Tail. His innovative sound blended the contemporary vibe with influences from decades past, earning him recognition and acclaim.
The turning point in his career came in 2010 when he mixed a compilation for New York’s Strictly Rhythm. This catapulted him onto the world stage, and his tracks found homes on renowned labels such as Remote Area, 100% Pure, Intacto, Gem Records, and Turbo. Remixes for industry heavyweights like Paul Weller, Armand van Helden, Nic Fanciulli, and Tiga showcased his versatility and prowess.
In 2012, Ramon Tapia established his own labels, Say What? Recordings and Aella Music, the latter in collaboration with Hermanez. His sound, characterized by Latin influences in percussion and a Dutch/Belgian foundation in hard-grooving techno, blends organic, tribal rhythms with electronic machinations.
For Ramon Tapia, being a DJ is a dream job, and his humility shines through as he focuses on rocking dancefloors and releasing infallible grooves. Join him on Safehouse Radio as he continues to elevate the techno experience, letting the music speak for itself without hyperbole or ego.
